What is Drawn Tube ?

An extruded tube brought to final dimension by cold drawing through a die and over a mandrel. This process reduces the cross sectional area of the tube, increases strength and refines the tube surface.

Upon special inquiry, we offer drawn shapes including squares,triangles, and flutes. Square and triangular shapes are not supported by the tube straightening process, therefore straightness is not guaranteed.

  • 1. Dimensional Tolerances-Because the tube is drawn over a mandrel and through a die, consistent dimensions can be achieved.

  • 5. Bending-Better dimensional and temper characteristics greatly enhance tube bending operations. Consistent dimensions and temper reduce bender setuptime and require less machine adjustments. Tube spring back is enhanced. Precise bendscan be obtained.
  • 6. Anodizing-The draw process refines the surface of the tube eliminating extrusion die lines and other surface irregularities. This provides a superior finish for bright dip and etch and clear anodizing.

  • 1. Porthole drawn tube is suitable for many tube applications -flagpoles, antennas, conveyor rolls, textile spools, orthopedic applications, recreational, marine applications.
