Melting and casting line in NWA includes ingots producing and ingots manufacturing. It can produce over 170 types of deformation aluminum alloy, over 100 type of square or round aluminum alloy ingot, the annual output reaches to 259,000 tons. This line also provides aluminum alloy ingots for rolling, forging, extruding processes. The products have acquired the license of manufacturing forging and forging stocks issued by Boeing Company.
NWA held the equipments ranked the world advanced level equipped in ingots producing line such as 9-50 tons aluminum melting furnace, stewing furnace, hydraulic casting machine, melting aluminum online MINT and DDF degassing units and photoelectric spectrum etc.
In ingots manufacturing process, the mainly equipments ranked the world advanced level includes vertical soaking furnace, horizontal soaking furnace, box type soaking furnace, round saw, turning mill, boring machine, gate saw, planer milling machine.

Sheet line Sheet plant is one of the primary plants in NWA, the major construction project in the Eighth Five-year Plan period. Its construction began in June 1989, equipments installation and commission started in Jan 1991, startup in November. Now the plant owns the fixed assets are 1.327 billion RMB Yuan, the plants area covers 42,800 square meters. The main machines of cold rolling line are all imported equipments ranked the world advanced technical level such as two 1850mm high speed irreversible cold rolling mills, 1600mm stretch straightening machine, color coating line, automatic packaging line and tiered warehouse facility etc.
Sheet plant is mainly focusing in producing heat treating non-strengthen aluminum alloy (1XXX, 3XXX, 5XXX, 8XXX series) high performance super thin sheet. At present, the products sheet plant can manufacture covers 50 varieties in over 200 dimensions such as aluminum lithographic supported material for print, can stock including can body, can lid and pull ring, materials for decoration, merchantable aluminum foil material, bottle lid material, color coating aluminum products etc. Products quality of NWA leads the trend in domestic. The manufactured products not only on sale in china but also in U.SA, Japan, Taiwan and Peru etc. countries and regions. Also the aluminum lithographic support material, aluminum for can stock, coating support material, bottle lid material, color aluminum profiles for architecture honored the Famous Brand issued by Chongqing municipal government.
Rolling Process
It’s equipped with two high speed irreversible 1850mm cold rolling mills, WS450MM roller grinder, MKZA84125 automatic roller grinder, 1850mm rewinding reel, ten sets of 44-ton coil anneal furnaces, tiered warehouse facility etc.
Final Finishing Process
It has 1600mm withdrawal straightening stand, two sets of 1700mm withdrawal stands, 1700mm and 1600mm cross-cut, imported automatic packaging line, 4 sets of 30-ton sheet anneal furnaces in final finishing process. Mainly products are aluminum alloy sheets, including aluminum lithographic support material, can stock material, material for decoration, coated aluminum support material, foil material etc. in various dimensions.
Coating Process
The equipments in coating process were mainly imported from Britain, ranked the world advanced technical level in the 1990s. It equipped with 1600mm color coating machine, grinder, travelling crane, pure water facility, sewage treatment facility, and exhausted gas incinerator etc. Products in this process now are wildly used in various industries of national economic construction.
Rolling Line Sheet and strip line in NWA is composed of hot rolling line, cold rolling line and sheet line and qualified ISO9001:2000 Quality Certification System. This line can produce aluminum and aluminum alloy sheet and strip.
Mill Line
Hot rolling line: It’s put into production on 1st Jan, 1970, revamped in 1990. All aluminum and aluminum alloy sheets and strip which dimension as following: 1XXX to 8XXX series, thickness is from 2.0 to 200mm and width is from 800 to 2500mm can be produced in this line. It is the largest aluminum hot rolling equipment in china at present. Major equipments of mill line include Φ750/Φ1400×2800mm fourfold reversible hot rolling mill, Φ650/Φ1400×2800mm quaternary reversible hot rolling mill, 3 sets of ingots flat grinders, one set of acid and alkali washing machine, pusher furnace and 3 sets of radial double rifling chain electric heating furnace.
Cold rolling line:It’s put into production in Oct 1970 and revamped several times, produces cold rolling sheets and strips in strip way. This line mainly rolls the hot rolling products in normal temperature and provides the high quality cold rolling sheets for the later manufacturing process. The products, which thickness is from 0.1 to 7.0mm and width is from 800 to 2500mm, are adapted to various industries and widely used in civil use and military use from general to high end. Cold rolling line is equipped with a Φ650/Φ1400×2800mm fourfold reversible cold rolling mill and a Φ360/Φ1000×1400mm fourfold irreversible cold rolling mill.
Shear Line
It’s starting up on 1st July, 1970, revamped in 1980 and 2002. Dimension of strips as following can be sheared in this line: thickness is from 0.5 to 10.0mm; width is from 1000 from 2500 mm. and the max shear length could reach to 12,000mm (cut accuracy is ±2mm). The 1850mm thick dimension aluminum sheet shear line self-developed by NWA can provide the aluminum and its alloy sheets which thickness is from 1.0 to 5.0mm, width is from 800 to 1700mm and length is from 1000 to 6000 mm online filming and paper packaging process. The line is equipped with 2800 mm pre-shear line, 1830 mm cross cut shear and the 1850 thick dimension shear.
Sheet Final Finishing Line
It’s equipped with 2800mm calendar, 400-ton stretcher, cleaning machine, precision saw, soft sheet machine and hard sheet machine. This line was put into production on 1st July, 1970, aluminum alloy anneal sheets and quenching sheets which thickness is from 0.5 to 12.0mm could be straightened, stretched, length sheared, cleaned in this line.
Heat Treating Furnace
put into production on 1st July, 1970, revamped in 2003, mainly used for annealing, quenching and aging in sheet manufacturing processes as well as for the finished coils annealing.
Major equipments: box type annealing furnace, sheet and coil annealing furnace, salt bath furnace, aging furnace.
Withdrawal Strengthening Line
imported from U.S.A in 1988, adapt to stretch, straighten, clean the coils which thickness is from 0.15 to 2.0mm and width is from 600 to 1640mm.
Major Equipment: 1640mm continuous stretch bending straightening machine.
Gas Cushioned Continuous Heat Treat Line
imported from U.S.A in 1988, the only gas cushioned continuous heat treat line for aluminum alloy sheet and strip in domestic aluminum fabrication industry. At present, it can produce 2xxxx series quenching aluminum strips which thickness is from 0.3 to 1.0mm and width is from 1000 to 1400mm, 6xxx series quenching aluminum strips which thickness is in 2.0mm and width is 1500mm, annealing aluminum strips which thickness is from 0.5 to 3.18mm and width is from 900 to 1600mm.
Major Equipment: Gas cushion continuous heat treat furnace.
Large Scale Pre-stretching Line
put into production on 30th Oct, 2002, it can produce various aluminum alloy heavy and medium plates which thickness is from 6 to 150mm and width is 2500mm. the design max length of final product is 18000mm and actual is 12000mm now.
Major Equipments: 6000-ton stretcher, 10-meter salt bath furnace, nine-roll straightening machine, 30-ton aging furnace, 50-ton aging furnace, roller hearth furnace, 2-meter precision saw, 4-meter precision saw, 2000mm polishing and filming line and water immersion detection instrument.

The Foil Production Line equipped with state-of-the-art 1700mm foil roughing mill and finishing mill manufactured by German ACHENBACH Company, WS250 roll grinding machine manufactured by German Helkerlus Company.
Purpose: to make air-conditioner foil, decoration foil, packaging foil, lithographic sheet etc of various size Al alloy centimillimetre or micron foil products.

Extrusion line in NWA is composed of tubes line, rods and bars line, profiles line, surface treating line and die making line etc. altogether 11 sets of extrusion presses with the capacity from 6.2MN to 34.3MN. Major equipments ranked the world advanced technical level were imported from U.S.A, Japan, Swiss and other countries such as 24.5MN extrusion line, 19.6MN extrusion line, anodizing line, color coating line, heat insulation profiles line and linear cutting machine etc. Large, medium and small sized tubes, rods and bars, industrial use profiles and architecture profiles can be produced in this line. It has the capacity of self-developing and producing various complex and high precision extrusion profiles.
The varieties of aluminum products for architecture produced by extrusion line are mainly including 38, 50, 70, 76, 85, 90, 98, W42, 62 series aluminum profiles for doors and windows, GR50, GR55, GR91 series heat insulation aluminum profiles for doors and windows, 102 series aluminum profiles for ground spring doors, 120, 135, 150, 155 series exposed frame curtain wall profiles, 110, 130, 145, 160, 170, 180, 210 series half hidden frame and hidden frame curtain wall profiles. All the products are strictly in accordance with the national standard GB5237—2004. And other special orders from clients also can be manufactured in this line. The maximum diameter of circumscribed circle of the products could reach 350mm.
Purpose: primarily producing the large, medium, small size aluminum and its alloy rod & bar, tube & pipe, hollow and solid profile, wire and wainscot with ribs etc that are broadly applied in aviation, aerospace, transport industries.
Hot tandem rolling line is the first high precision aluminum sheets and strips line ranked the world advanced technical level among the enterprises in china, invested by CHINALCO and Southwest Aluminum (Group) Co., Ltd lies in the Industrial Park in Xipeng Town, Jiulongpo District Chongqing China. It was found on 16th Sep, 2004, and the registered capital is 540 million RMB Yuan, commenced of operation on 8th Nov, 2004, major products are high precision aluminum and aluminum alloy sheets, strips and foils etc.
There are one set of 2100mm aluminum sheets and strips hot tandem rolling mill including one roughing mill, 4 finishing mills, 4 pusher heating furnaces, ingots milling machine, 2 roller grinders. All the major equipments were imported from UK, Japan, German and Swiss and part of equipments were cooperated made in china.
The annual production capacity is over 350,000 tons. The construction of this line has filled a vacancy that there’s no high precision hot tandem rolling aluminum sheets and strips domestically and changed the history that high precision aluminum sheets and strips only depended on importing before. It is of a great significance for equipments technical level improving in china’s aluminum fabrication industry, industrial structure optimizing, and CHINALCO’s leap-forward development of strategic realizing. It makes tremendous motivation effect to the progress of creating the first class aluminum fabrication enterprise and China’s aluminum fabrication facilities and technology.
The hot tandem rolling line was put into production on 25th June, 2005 and the entire goal for quality and profits has been realized in this year, the output of products was 51,400 tons while the sales income reached 882 million RMB Yuan, and realized the interest for 7.28 million RMB Yuan.
In 2006, the business kept on advance quickly, the output was 140,000 tons, and sales income was 2774 million RMB Yuan and realized the interest for 50.09 million RMB Yuan.
In 2007, the output of products was 193,900 tons, and sales income was 3,763 million RMB Yuan and realized the interest for 60.67 million RMB Yuan.
